Many people, even providers, will tell you that Type II Diabetes is a chronic progressive disease which cannot be reversed. This is wrong. Plentiful evidence now exists that shows that with the proper diet and lifestyle those with T2D can get off medications, achieve and maintain normal blood sugar, and reverse the disease process. We see patients achieve these outcomes here at Restore Medical Fitness Center almost every day. This next fact is very important: These things will never be achieved using the current “usual” care you will find in most clinics. In fact, getting off medications or normalizing blood glucose is NOT even recommended if you are using a pharmacological approach.
Type II Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions and is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. One of the main reasons for the advancement of this disease is it is being treated incorrectly and usually too late. Pre-diabetes and type II diabetes are currently diagnosed only when blood sugar is no longer controlled within normal ranges. Type II Diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia are all a part of a spectrum of the same disease. This spectrum can and should be identified MUCH sooner than the point at which loss of blood sugar control occurs. As soon as the signs of insulin resistance appear patients could be treated with diet and lifestyle therapies which can almost completely avoid and definitely slow any progression of the disease.
There is VERY GOOD NEWS. Using the information in these courses we have even seen the remission of type II diabetes. Remission equals, patients previously diagnosed with diabetes that were using oral and or injectable medications who now have normal blood sugar without the use of medication. Remission is a very real possibility but diet and lifestyle MUST be addressed correctly. If you have been told to eat 45-60 grams of carbohydrates three times a day with two snacks of approximately 15 grams of carbs you have been taught something that will increase your blood glucose, increase your insulin production and will NEVER result in the remission of your type II diabetes. This approach only “manages” or mitigates the disease.
These courses are designed to help you understand diabetes in all its forms (insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, pre-diabetes) and teach you how diet and other lifestyle modifications can help restore the bodies ability to self-regulate blood sugar levels and restore health. Each course is important to understand the disease, how it progresses, how it can be reversed and the importance of the proper diet, adequate exercise and other healthy lifestyle habits.
IMPORTANT WARNING: If you are on medication for blood glucose control or blood pressure control you should be medically monitored, as we do here at Restore, when adopting a new diet. You should not change your diet or begin an exercise program without professional supervision. Our dietary recommendations are highly effective in dropping blood glucose and blood pressure in most people. You must be monitored during the initial phases of lifestyle change as medications can result in life threatening conditions without monitoring. Here at Restore we expect patients to need medication adjustments almost immediately. Please schedule a free health risk consultation with us or see your physician before adopting any diet or exercise program.
